I used to believe recruiting was about finding the perfect match.
The best resume.
The most polished credentials.
The safest choice.
And to be fair—it made sense at the time. If a candidate checked all the boxes, they should be a great hire, right?
But time and experience have a way of teaching you things you never expected.
Because I watched some of those "perfect" hires struggle, stall, or leave within a year.
And then I watched some of the least obvious hires—the ones who weren’t the top choice on paper—absolutely crush it.
That’s when I realized something huge:
👉 The best hire isn’t always the most qualified.
👉 The best hire is the one who fits.
And that changed everything for me.
I’ve seen companies make the same mistake over and over.
They chase a checklist of qualifications instead of hiring for real impact.
But here’s the truth:
✅ The best hire isn’t just skilled—they align with the company’s mission, energy, and culture.
✅ The best leaders don’t just check boxes—they bring out the best in their teams.
✅ The best decisions in business (and life) aren’t the “safe” ones—they’re the ones that create real momentum.
And this isn’t just about hiring.
It’s about how we lead.
How we build teams.
How we create success.
Because the reality is, perfection is an illusion. Fit is what lasts.
If you’re hiring right now, I have one challenge for you:
🔹 Stop looking for the “perfect” hire. Look for the right hire.
🔹 Stop obsessing over resumes. Start looking at what makes someone truly great.
🔹 Stop chasing safe bets. Start hiring for long-term success.
Because the strongest teams aren’t built on perfect hires.
They’re built on the right ones.
If this resonates with you and you’re ready to think differently about hiring, here are three ways we can work together:

Most hiring is treated like guesswork. The best use a strategy so powerful, the right people fight to be part of their team.
