Hey there,
I want to have a real conversation with you.
Not about metrics. Not about hitting numbers.
But about something far more important... your reputation.
I’ve been in this industry long enough to hear every kind of candidate story. Some are quite inspiring, yet some are unforgettable, and for the wrong reasons.
🚨 The recruiter who ghosted a candidate after three rounds of interviews.
🚨 The recruiter who rudely dismissed someone just for asking for feedback.
🚨 The recruiter who made a candidate feel like they were wasting their time.
And here’s the thing—candidates don’t forget!
After decades in this business, I can tell you, there are only two kinds of recruiters:
💡 The ones candidates respect. They’re honest, responsive, and professional even when delivering bad news.
💡 The ones candidates warn others about. These recruiters make people feel invisible, unimportant, or dismissed.
So, which one do you want to be?
Because here’s the reality:
📌 A candidate you ghost today might be a hiring manager next year.
📌 A candidate you treat well—even if they’re not a fit—might refer you to someone who is.
📌 Your reputation follows you. And in this business, word spreads fast.
✅ 1. Communicate with them even when the answer is no.
A quick, respectful response is always better than silence.
✅ 2. Remember that people aren’t just resumes.
Every candidate has a story. They may not be right for this role, but they might be perfect for the next one.
✅ 3. Play the long game.
Recruiting isn’t just about filling jobs. It’s about building relationships. And relationships are built on trust.
Listen... you're awesome, I'm sure! But I don’t care how many placements you’ve made. If candidates don’t trust you, it WILL catch up to you.
So, take a second today and ask yourself:
If my candidates had a choice, would they work with me again?
Because in this business, they always have a choice.
If this resonates with you and you’re ready to think differently about recruiting, here are three ways we can work together:
